Jammu May 5, 2025 – The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, successfully organized a crucial one-day workshop on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Trauma Care in collaboration with People’s Hut Foundation and Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity Jammu. The workshop aimed to train participant trainees and staff with essential life-saving skills to respond effectively during medical emergencies and traumatic incidents.
The CPR training exercise was conducted under the initiatives and guidance of Alok Kumar IPS-ADGP Director F&ES Department who appreciated the team virtually. Dr Manju Thapa Medical Officer Gandhi nagar Hqrs F&ES Jammu presided over the function while as Himanshu Gandotra Principal Fire Training Centre Bari Brahmna was the chief Guest and the programme was conducted by Kanwal Peshin, Vice Principal FTC Bari Brahmna





The initiative brought together medical staff and Fire Trainees from the Fire and Emergency Services for an intensive training session led by experienced medical professionals and emergency response experts. Participants received hands-on training in CPR techniques, the Heimlich manoeuvre, basic first aid for trauma injuries, and essential steps to take during critical situations before professional medical help arrives.
Dr. Rohit Koul, Director and CEO of People’s Hut Foundation, who coordinated the event emphasized the organization’s commitment to community empowerment and safety through such collaborative initiatives. People’s Hut Foundation’s role in community health and emergency preparedness, and the value of partnering with the Fire and Emergency Services, stated Dr. Koul.
The workshop covered critical aspects of emergency response, including Recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest and initiating CPR, Clearing airway obstructions in adults, children, and infants. Assessing and managing common trauma injuries, the importance of early intervention and the “golden hour” in trauma care, Basic principles of bleeding control and wound management.
The successful collaboration between the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services and People’s Hut Foundation underscores the importance of multi-sectorial partnerships in enhancing community resilience and preparedness for emergencies.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Harmeet Singh, Managing and Medical Director and Group Director – Emergency & Trauma at Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity Jammu, and was assisted by Mr. Ritvik Mahajan, Business Head along with Mr. Mehran Masood Dar Marketing Officer at Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity Jammu. 60 officials participated in the event including 45 trainees undergoing Basic Fireman ship Course Drill and discipline at FTC. Both organizations expressed their commitment to organizing similar workshops in the future to further empower individuals with these vital life-saving skills.
Deputy Director F&ES Command Jammu Raj Kumar Raina congratulated the team and staff for successful completion of the training telephonically as he was busy on official assignment at Jammu. A memento was presented by the department to Dr Harmeet Singh, MD Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity Jammu for the enlightening training session.
