Bharatiya Janata Party led by its senior leaders former Dy. Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta, former J&K BJP President & former Minister Sat Sharma and BJP NEM & former Minister Priya Sethi felicitated Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri who was awarded Padma Shri on 24th of January.
Having served the society in various capacities like Nominee of Chancellor at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University New Delhi), Former Principal at Rashtryia Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University), Director Shri Mata Vaisno Devi Gurukul, President Sanskar Sanskriti Manch, Editor & Writer of many books etc, Prof. Shastri was awarded one of the highest civilian Awards in India ‘Padma Shri’ for distinguished service in Literature and Education.
Kavinder Gupta said that it is the moment of proud that on behalf of BJP they all are felicitating Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri at his residence. He said that it gives immense pleasure to see that truly deserving people are getting this prize. With this award whole of the J&K and the persons working in this field have been recognized, he added.
Sat Sharma said that Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri has brought laurels to the whole of Jammu & Kashmir. His distinguished and exemplary services have brought him this well deserved honour, he said and added that he is renowned Sanskrit scholar and educationist
Priya Sethi said that this honour will also promote Sanskrit in whole of the region. She stressed that the Modi government has truly chosen the talented and deserving persons for these awards.
Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri said that he was overwhelmed with joy when he came to know that his services have been recognized. He also thanked the Modi government for recognizing the services and stressed that this gesture by the Modi government will surely promote the Sanskrit and our tradition and culture all over in the hearts of people.
BJP Mandal President Ravish Mengi, JMC Councillor Yashpaul Mantoo, Mandal General Secretary Sanjay Bhat and others were also present on the occasion.
