Poonch, April 03, 2025: In a significant step toward fostering stronger police-community relations, a Police-Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting was held today in Degwar village. The event was spearheaded by Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) Poonch, Sh. Mohan Sharma, JKPS, alongside Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Headquarters Poonch, Sh. Neeraj Sharma. The session provided an open platform for residents to discuss key issues and collaborate with law enforcement.
The primary aim of the meeting was to enhance public trust and strengthen cooperation between the police and the local community. Addressing the gathering, Addl SP Mohan Sharma stressed the importance of legal awareness and community vigilance in ensuring effective law enforcement. He briefed residents on recent updates to criminal laws and highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime, offering guidance on how to protect themselves from digital frauds and online threats.
A major area of concern discussed was drug abuse, a growing issue affecting the region. Addl SP Sharma detailed the proactive measures being taken by Poonch Police to curb this menace and emphasized the critical role of public support in tackling substance abuse. He encouraged residents to report any suspicious activities and assured them of swift police action.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Degwar locals, who shared their perspectives on security and social concerns. Many residents came forward with suggestions to enhance community safety. The officers assured them that their inputs would be taken seriously and necessary steps would be implemented.
To further connect with the youth and promote positive engagement, the police distributed sports equipment among local youngsters, encouraging them to take up healthy activities. Additionally, a plantation drive was conducted as a tribute to Police Martyrs, honoring their supreme sacrifices for the nation.
