Jammu Municipal Corporation today organized an awareness programme with District Legal Services Authority, Jammu – The aim of the awareness session was to disseminate information about various finer aspects of Swachh Bharat Mission as well as Solid Waste Management in Jammu city.
The programme started with a brief introduction of Swachh Bharat Mission which is – A country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management.
Discussion on Solid waste management Rules 2016, J&K Solid Waste management Bye laws 2016, Plastic waste Management Rules 2016, C&D Waste Management Rules 2016 and SWM Fines and penalties were also made.
Jammu Municipal Corporation initiatives for Solid waste management:
Ø SWM Plant in Zone I & Zone II (Kot Bhlwal)
Ø Integrated PPP Mode SWM processing plant in Zone – III (Bandurakh)
Ø 160 IEC Activities to aware the localities regarding the concept of Waste segregation & Solid Waste management including:
· Training / Awareness sessions of JMC Officials
· Nukkad Nataks / Street play
· Painting & Music Competition
· “Bye – Bye Plastic” campaign in order to eradicate Single Use Plastic
· Hoardings & Banners related to Swachh Bharat Mission / Swachh Survekshan
· “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Celebration
· Radio /FM campaigns including interviews of JMC Officials.
The gathering was also briefed about the action plan of JMC & the progress made by it till date. The legal fraternity was also made aware of the ongoing Swachh Survekshan – 2022 and the process to register feedback.
The workshop was organized under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Mayor JMC – Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta, Honourable Deputy Mayor JMC – Adv. Purnima Sharma ji, Chairman Swachh Bharat Committee Sh. Hardeep singh mankotia, and Secretary JMC – Atul Kumar and various DLSA Officials including Adv. Deepali Sharma – Panel Lawer, Adv. Mayank Gupta – Panel Lawer who is also an advocate for Jammu Municipal Corporation and Adv. Deepali Kapoor – Panel Lawer.
